Learning by Design is for the family that wants a different educational experience for

their child; something less traditional and more progressive. At Learning by Design, we

believe there is genius in every child. We believe it is our job to help each child find their

genius and express it wholly. We intend to meet every student where they are and help

them grow and develop from that place. We challenge each to student to self reflect,

think critically, explore, develop and share their ideas, create, problem solve, engage in

effective conflict resolution, and strive to be change makers of their world. This requires

us to do school differently. We don’t use prescribed canned curriculum because we

believe this does not allow all students to engage fully in the curriculum. We provide

opportunities for those learners who learn by doing to engage in authentic, hands-on

learning. We design curriculum based on the needs of our students making it more

authentic and accessible for our students.

We believe that if we try to understand each child for who they truly are, they will tell us

what they need to achieve and succeed. This will help them be more empowered

agents of their own learning. This process is called Student-centered Learning or

Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
